The Big Kick Off is Here!

Action from last season's game at home to Irlam

With preseason now all wrapped up and valuable minutes in the players' legs, our first league campaign at our new home will get underway this Saturday at 3pm.

Despite defeats in our last two friendlies against Bootle (1-2) and Prescot Cables (2-4), The Non-League Reds put in good displays in both games against strong opposition and showed lots of promise for the season ahead.

The opponents for the opening game of the season will be Irlam, in what is sure to be a tough test for AFC. The Manchester Premier Cup holders, who have had a strong preseason, finished in 7th place last term (2 places higher than AFC) and will be looking to push on for a play-off berth this season.

Last season's corresponding fixture resulted in a 3-0 victory for AFC, thanks to two Elliot Taylor goals and one from Luke Byron all coming in the 2nd half of the game. Irlam won the return fixture later in the campaign, running out 2-1 winners despite a Matty Brown goal. It's bound to be an exciting match between two sides who carry plenty of attacking threat - Irlam scored 83 league goals last year, whilst AFC got 90.

Tickets for the game can be purchased in the 'Buy Tickets' section on this website or you can pay at the gate on the day. If you can't get to the game but would still like to support the Club with some much needed funds, there is also an option to purchase a virtual ticket.

All support would be greatly appreciated, so get down early to the Berry Street Garage Stadium this Saturday for a 3pm kick-off and enjoy the start of the new era.
