AFC Liverpool's poor run of results continued on the road, as they went down 1-3 at Wythenshawe.
The Non-League Reds played well in the opening 45 mins and looked very well organised, with Jack Hinnigan having a great first period. The hosts had the first effort of the match, as a shot went over the bar. On 21 minutes, Liam Paton had the ball in the net for AFC but the linesman had flagged for offside. Ben Barnes then had to make a save from a Wythenshawe striker, tipping the ball over the crossbar. On 37 minutes, Joel Skillen's effort failed to trouble the keeper as it bounced wide. Nathan Giblin went close on 43 minutes and then a minute later, AFC got themselves in front.
Good work initially from Skillen, saw a shot blocked. When the ball was played back into the box, skipper Adam Moorcroft was there at the back post to firmly head home. Moorcroft had another half chance before the break but his effort went over the bar and AFC had to settle for a one goal lead at the break.

Any thoughts that the game was turning the way of the visitors were soon dispelled in the 46th minute, when almost straight from the restart, a Wythenshawe cross was headed home by Dwyer to level the scores. Two minutes later and the turnaround was complete as Princewill Anuniru curled a brilliant effort past Barnes to give his side the lead. The home side had certainly come out for the 2nd half meaning business and on the hour mark, another great strike this time from Dwyer gave them a two goal lead. The Reds managed to rally a little and created a few chances, but the damage had been done in that opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half and Wythenshawe ran out 3-1 winners.
We now move on to Tuesday night (16th) and what has become a vital game, when we host FC Isle of Man. Games between the two sides are always exciting and guaranteed goals. Kick-off is 7:45pm and it would be great if you can get down to the BSG Stadium in Bootle to support the lads.
