Isaac The Star As Reds Have To Settle For A Point

Massive LFC fan, Isaac Kearney, was AFC Liverpool's special guest at the Berry Street Garage Stadium, as The Non-League Reds drew with Glossop North End, in a hard fought battle.

It was AFC who flew out the blocks and Cameron Rooney turned well in the centre circle and played a great through ball to Elliot Taylor, who finished brilliantly to give his team a 2nd minute lead.

The visitors responded positively and had a couple of long range efforts that were off target. However, on 14 minutes it was Taylor who doubled AFC's lead from the penalty spot, after a defensive slip resulted in the keeper bringing down the striker.

Joel Skillen had an effort deflected over the bar on 20 minutes and Glossop continued to build well from the back but were restricted to long range efforts. That changed on 27 minutes, when a good ball into AFC's area was met by Ethan Sutcliffe, who finished well with his left foot.

Elliot Taylor tried an effort from distance as half-time approached but with no other chances of note, it was AFC who held the narrow lead at the break.

Skipper, Adam Moorcroft went close with a header from a Caleb Jones corner in the opening minute of the 2nd period. 10 minutes later, Taylor had another half chance but couldn't get the ball out of his feet quickly enough to trouble the keeper.

Glossop continued to play a patient possession game and began to look more threatening going forward, particularly from wide areas. Tom Douglas came on for AFC, for his 1st appearance since re-joining the Club.

Elliot Taylor was denied by a fine save from Oldham in the Glossop goal on 75 minutes and Deacon Smalley went close with a shot from the edge of the box five minutes later. With just three minutes of normal time remaining a cross from the left for Glossop was headed back across the area and finished by Martijn Smith. The visitors were now finishing the stronger and thought they had secured all the points when defender, Jordan Schofield crashed an effort off the top of the crossbar in added time.

So a very exciting game ended all square and although we couldn't get him a win, we hope that Isaac and his family enjoyed the day and hopefully we'll see you all again in the near future.
