FA Cup Campaign Ends at Campion.

A disappointing performance from The Non-League Reds, saw us exit this year’s FA Cup. Was it the long trip to Bradford? The 3pm Sunday kickoff? Who knows, but tha lads never really got going until it was too late.

Things looked promising in the opening minute, when Sam Smith got behind the Campion defence and went down in the box, only for the penalty appeals to be waved away. That was as good as it got in the early stages, as AFC could have been 2 down in the first ten minutes had it not been for a good save and some brave last ditched defending. Campion created the better chances throughout the half and The Reds were fortunate to go in level at 0-0.

Any hopes that the 2nd half would start brighter for AFC were soon distinguished, as sloppy play again gifted possession to the opposition and having failed to intercept a weak cross into the box, the waiting Campion player had as much time as he wanted to side foot the ball past McGovern. Substitutions were made and a late flourish from The Reds almost brought an equaliser, when a Joe Cunningham shot rattled the post. It was all a bit too little too late and Campion deservedly booked their place in the next round.

Final Score - Campion AFC 1 v 0 AFC Liverpool
